Happiness Meter

Success shouldn’t be measured by money; it should be measured by happiness.

What is your happiness level?

Is anyone actually happy working a 9-5 dead end job just to pay rent and bills? What if you could leave all that behind and travel the country? Luckily for us, that is exactly what we are going to do!

Added bonus: we get to take all our fur kids with us and live in the comforts of home while we explore the country.

I am very grateful that I received a college education from a small liberal arts college in Massachusetts. The whole point of going to college is to give you a leg up to get a higher paying job later down the line. However, all of the jobs I have had since graduating in 2008, have just made me realize that working day in and day out at the same job is not what I want to do with my life. In fact, I have found that I would be the happiest making very little money and living a very simple life, without the pressures of having a fancy car and the most recent iPhone.

The house we are currently renting is over 2,200 sq ft. We need so much space because we have the furniture to fill each room. In reality, we could be living a much simpler life, free of STUFF. Without so much stuff, we can get out of debt, travel the country and actually SAVE money- what a concept!

When you no longer have rent and utility bills and are no longer carting around years’ worth of acquired furniture, life becomes much more manageable. Without all the pressure of money, you become happier! I would be the happiest person in the world being debt free, having a simple job, living modestly, and giving back to others. So, that is precisely what we are going to do. It’s time to up our happiness levels.

In the last 10 years, I have lived in 6 different states and have moved countless times. My patterns indicate that I am not happy being stuck in one place for very long. In fact, staying in one place for even a full year, gives me anxiety. I want nothing more than to travel and experience life. You can’t experience life sitting at a desk all day, every day.

I can’t wait to begin this amazing adventure. We are going to see so many amazing places and meet many amazing people on our journey. Who knows, maybe we will even discover the place we would want to settle down one day. Until then, our home is the open road.
