Parked at Pace Bend County Park

Pace Bend County Park, Texas

We met up with our full-timing friends, the Veltkamper Adventure, who were in town visiting Austin. They were staying at Pace Bend County Park on Lake Travis and suggested we join them for a week. Within minutes, we had booked a reservation and the next morning we packed up and drove out! It was such an amazing week and was a complete validation on why we decided to...

Lulu wading in one of the pools

Inks Lake State Park, Texas

We decided to go tent camping at Inks Lake State Park in Texas over the Labor Day weekend back in 2016.  Shortly after arriving at camp, we had a squirrel come up to us who was likely desensitized to humans as it came pretty close to us and to Lulu. Lulu nearly lost her mind, she loves chasing squirrels! We set up our tent and got into the water, Lulu having her...

Hurry up and wait!

We have been on this adventure for a month now, but so far it hasn’t quite felt like much of an adventure.  It feels more like we just moved into a really small space, with a much cheaper rent payment (which is awesome!)  It will still be another 2 months before we get to hit the open road.

Getting settled into our RV

We are all moved in and settled at the Pecan Park Riverside RV Park down in San Marcos, TX. Already we have had a couple of learning experiences in the few days since moving into the RV. We went to use the oven to cook one of our first meals and couldn’t figure out how to turn it on! Apparently you need to light the pilot light every single time you want...

Lulu in San Marcos, TX

Our first full day in the RV

Well, we’ve done it. We’ve packed all of our belongings into the RV, set aside everything else that’s going into storage and donated the rest. We’re now at our first stopping point where we will be for the next 3 months, give or take a few days, where we have some travel commitments. So far, things are great! We already hit our first learning...

We Did It!!!

We did it! Yesterday we purchased a new truck and picked up the trailer! We got an F-150, 3.5L w/ Eco-boost which will pull our trailer just fine.

There will certainly be a learning curve for towing that thing, it’s a beast! After some time and practice, we will be comfortable with how it handles and will be flying down the road in no time.

Squatters

We have taken the initiative to start selling all of our belongings, which has left us basically squatting in our very large house. The animals are all a little nervous, as they watch us carry large pieces of furniture out of the house, never to be seen again. Some of the cats have made a game out of it, playing king of the castle on top of mattresses lining the...

Roadblocks

We haven’t written a blog post in awhile because it seems like we have been hitting one roadblock after another. It has been a very disheartening experience, trying to buy a truck and trailer. Because we have pretty terrible credit, we have been denied time and time again for RV loans. The entire point of why we are planning on living the full-time RV lifestyle, is...
