Sned Acres, Ovid, New York

We never know what to expect from a campground, until we get there.  After spending our time at Four Mile Creek State Park, we were hoping that we were going to get a little bit more privacy and peace and quiet.  We got exactly that the entire week we stayed at Sned Acres near Ovid, New York.

We picked this location due to it’s proximity to Ithaca and Watkins Glen, NY.  It’s about 40 minutes to Ithaca and about an hour to Watkins Glen. It’s also located smack dab in the middle of wine country on Cayuga Lake, with multiple wineries and distilleries within a short drive.

We pulled up to the office and were greeted by a very kind woman who offered us a loaf of banana bread for staying with them.  We politely declined and she continued checking us in while giving us the overview of the campground.  She told us we were going to be staying at the top of the hill on the far side so we should have a pretty good view and she was not lying!  We had a view of the lake from our campsite!

Our site was covered in gravel and was pretty level.  It looked like they maintain these regularly because someone staying in one of the sites near us left shortly after we arrived and they came through with fresh gravel and a bulldozer.  The rest of our site was on part of a grassy hill and came with a picnic table and a fire pit.  There are some amenities on site such as washers and dryers but we never ended up using them.

We did not have any TMobile connection

Camp wifi

Their connection was good for light usage, but we wouldn’t recommend streaming or heavy workloads.  Speed test showed 2.31 Mbps download and 0.287 Mbps upload
