We were originally supposed to be at Bahia Honda State Park for the week, but because of the damage from Hurricane Irma, they had canceled the first part of our reservation. Scrambling to find something in Florida during the winter months, we were fortunate enough to come across Ponderosa RV Park in Kissimmee, Florida.
The spaces themselves aren’t much to write home about, but they are rather wide which makes parking your RV and truck pretty easy. Other than that though, it’s basically a parking lot with full hookups, mixed with stationary mobile homes. They did have some nice amenities available on site, such as a pool, shuffleboard courts, and laundry facilities. We took advantage of the laundry, which has about 6-8 washers and dryers and only ran about $3 for a wash and dry.
There is quite a bit of road noise as you are right off the turnpike, but we only really heard that when we were outside. There is a lot of foot and bike traffic that goes up and down the road, as people are walking their dogs, riding their bikes, and taking their trash to the dumpster, but everyone was friendly.
These types of parks we try to avoid and we were only there for 8 nights, but wouldn’t want to spend any more time than that.
