V02 Vegan Cafe is a nice little restaurant attached to a yoga studio near Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They offer both breakfast and lunch menus consisting mainly of sandwiches, wraps, and salads as well as a wide array of juices and smoothies. We didn’t try any of the drinks and only a limited portion of their menu, so we are hesitant to call this a full review, but overall we weren’t thoroughly impressed with what we had.
What we ordered
Tengo Hambre (Breakfast Burrito)- Tofu Scramble, Quinoa, Brown Rice, Spinach, Black Beans, and Vegan Cheese on a Tortilla Wrap with Housemade Pico de Gallo. This was pretty good, but definitely needs some time to cool off before eating it as it came out of the press piping hot. The chips were upgraded to nachos which also were pretty good but could have used more toppings.
Seitan slam- Our “Vegan Ruben”! Homemade BBQ seitan, coleslaw, Russian dressing on rye. Served with chips. This definitely did not live up to Hayden’s expectations, which were definitely high because she loves a good Ruben sandwich. The seitan, specifically, was the issue with the sandwich. Instead of shaving it into thin slices, or even cutting it down, it was a huge slab placed on the bread with the rest of the toppings. If you’ve ever had seitan before, you know that it can be extremely dense. The chips were good though and came with a delicious sauce that we couldn’t identify.
