Top 6 Vegan Options in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga, Tennessee is a budding vegan mecca that has yet to explode on the scene. Get ready, because it’s coming and the food is fantastic! We had no idea that Chattanooga was so vegan-friendly and absolutely fell in love with this city because of the amazing food. We put together the best things we ate and without further ado, here are our top 6 vegan options in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Cashew

We actually ate at Cashew on three separate occasions, because the food was THAT good! It’s all-vegan and they recently just expanded, so they have a larger area for dining. They’re only open during the day, except for dinner on Friday nights, which is also pizza night. Hopefully, they are able to be open every night for dinner in the future, because I’m sure people would fill the house every night. The first night we went, we ordered pizza and their homemade cashew cheese is LEGIT! It’s so good, that you can find it at other restaurants in the city (see Mojo Burrito below). The pizza dough was crispy, perfectly cooked, and came topped with garlic and meatballs. Absolutely fantastic!

The second time we went, we ordered the nachos and a buffalo bowl. The nachos come slathered in their amazing cashew cheese and were loaded with all the best veggies. The buffalo bowl highlights buffalo tofu with rice, sauteed kale, and drizzled with ranch dressing. We highly recommend ordering extra buffalo sauce because it was lacking in that buffalo flavor, but the dish overall was so amazing. It was so good that we ordered it again the third time we went.

The third time we went, we ordered the meatball bowl, which comes on top of kale and slathered in the cashew cheese. The meatballs had a great consistency and texture and the meal overall was very filling but was light because of the kale. Overall, Cashew is hands down our favorite restaurant in Chattanooga.

Sluggos

Sluggos is an all-vegan restaurant that offers HUGE portions and we wish we could have tried more of their menu. We ordered the buffalo wings which are breaded and grilled seitan covered in buffalo sauce with a side of ranch. They had amazing texture and were super dense, but weren’t too chewy. The sauce had the perfect amount of heat to it and definitely wasn’t too spicy. These wings made it onto our list of  Top Vegan Buffalo Wings in the US, so these are a must try! We also tried the nachos which come with homemade cheese, chili, loaded with veggies, and topped with a lime-soy cream sauce. These nachos were super hearty with all the veggies loaded on top.

Mojo Burrito

Mojo Burrito is a really great vegan-friendly Mexican restaurant. It’s similar to Chipotle, in that you stand in line and order what you want on top of your nachos, burrito, bowl, etc. The best part about this restaurant is that they offer the amazing cheese from Cashew, which makes this place worth the visit. We ordered nachos and a burrito and were going to get the chili on top, as it was highly recommended to us, but we both accidentally forgot it. Definitely give it a try to give the dishes more flavor and depth.

Sekisui

Sekisui is an Asian restaurant that has an all-vegan menu that features 10 delicious, completely vegan, sushi rolls. With unique names like Daydream, Groot, Tomahawk, & the Juggler, the rolls each provided a unique flavor profile that highlights non-traditional ingredients like pomegranate or yamagobo. You’ll have a difficult time deciding which options to try, they all sound so good!

Flying Squirrel

Flying Squirrel is a hip local bar that has a separate vegan menu that highlights quite a few items. The best thing they offer, hands down, are the garlic fries. They are a huge basket of fries topped with, you guessed it, garlic and LOTS of it. They are the best fries we’ve ever had! We also tried the roasted cauliflower that came topped with an amazing pesto sauce and the fried rice with tofu, which was wholesome and delicious.

Ice Cream Show

The best way to finish a night out on the town is at Ice Cream Show, which offers soy ice cream. They’re open late and offer some of the most amazing milkshakes we’ve ever had. You can add almost any kind of topping and they will blend it up into something delicious. We recommend the vanilla soy ice cream with pretzels, peanut butter, and Oreos- YUM!
